The sensitive plain bearings of a turbocharger can reach extremely high speeds (several hundred thousand revolutions per minute) within seconds of engine start. Without adequate lubrication, especially during the first startup after installation, this can lead to dry running and immediate, very expensive damage.This specialized additive contains a high dose of active lubricating ingredients, such as a combination of MoS$_2$ (Molybdenum Disulfide) and other emergency-running properties, that adhere firmly to the metal surfaces of the bearings. This action ensures a robust lubricating film is present from the very first turn of the rotor shaft, providing lasting protection and avoiding premature wear or damage caused by a lack of oil supply during the crucial running-in phase.
