Description

AEM CD-5 Carbon Digital Dash Display | Race Display

Upgrade your cockpit with the AEM CD-5 Carbon Digital Dash Display. Features a ultra-bright 5" full-color screen, lightweight carbon composite housing, and CAN-bus compatibility.

The AEM Performance Electronics CD-5 Carbon Digital Dash Display brings professional-grade motorsports telemetry into a compact, ultra-lightweight form factor. Housed in a rugged, flow-molded carbon fiber composite enclosure weighing just 11.7 ounces (331 grams), the CD-5 replaces traditional mechanical gauge clusters with a customizable digital interface.

At its core is a 5-inch diagonal, full-color TFT display featuring $800 \times 480$ resolution and extreme $1000\text{ cd/m}^2$ brightness. Equipped with an anti-glare filter, the screen remains clear even in direct, open-cockpit sunlight. Using AEM's free DashDesign software, drivers can choose pre-configured screen templates or fully customize up to seven distinct pages, including dedicated warning and map-change screens. Integrated CAN-bus connectivity reads engine and vehicle data directly from aftermarket ECUs, standalone systems, and OBD-II ports.

Best Uses

  1. Motorsport & Track Cars: Replaces bulky stock gauge clusters with real-time engine telemetry, custom alert triggers, and shift indicators.
  2. Open-Cockpit Vehicles & Off-Road: IP66 water-resistance rating makes it ideal for open-wheel race cars, dune buggies, marine applications, and motorcycles.
  3. EV Conversions: Integrates seamlessly with aftermarket EV battery management systems (BMS) and motor controllers via CAN communication.
  4. Custom & Kit Cars: Simplifies wiring by gathering all vehicle metrics into a single screen through a CAN network connection.

Features

  1. Ultra-Bright 5" Full-Color Screen:  resolution display boasting  brightness and an anti-glare filter for sunlight legibility.
  2. Carbon Fiber Composite Enclosure: Rugged, flow-molded body weighing only 331 g (11.7 oz) to minimize vehicle weight.
  3. Programmable Shift & Warning LEDs: Seven dimmable RPM shift LEDs running across the top housing plus two additional programmable auxiliary LEDs.
  4. IP66 Weather Resistance: Sealed casing protects internal electronics against water spray, rain, dust, and harsh environments.
  5. DashDesign Graphics Editor: Free software allows layout design, variable gauge creation, and warning triggers.

Benefits

  1. Eliminates Dashboard Clutter: Replaces multiple single-purpose mechanical or digital gauges with a single streamlined display screen.
  2. Reduces Vehicle Weight: Carbon fiber construction cuts dashboard payload compared to traditional aluminum or heavy plastic displays.
  3. Instant Engine Safety Alerts: Programmable full-screen warning pages flash immediately upon critical channel thresholds (e.g., low oil pressure or high coolant temp).
  4. Plug-and-Play CAN Bus Integration: Simplifies wiring harnesses by reading multiple channels directly over standard CAN networks.
  5. Day & Night Readability: High-contrast display automatically dims via the dedicated headlight-in signal connection during night operations.
